Immediately after Reddit announced its plans to start testing a Clubhouse-like “Reddit Talk” feature on its platform, Facebook officially announced that it would also introduce a variety of audio products. It comes just days after the social media giant began testing Hotline, a new clubhouse-like social platform aimed at professionals. Today, Facebook announced the future audio products that it will incorporate into its applications and services.
The Menlo Park-based firm announced the audio products through an official blog post. In the post, Fidji Simo, Facebook’s app manager, wrote that the team has seen a “Continuous increase in audio” on platforms like WhatsApp and Messenger. As a result, the company aims to bring multiple audio tools to meet the needs of future audio creators.

New audio creation tools
Facebook plans to add a variety of audio creation / editing tools for professional and amateur creators to bring the best audio experiences to its audience. The company will integrate the tools into the Facebook application and use audio technologies such as voice transformation and voice-to-text conversion to empower them.
In addition, the application will use AI to improve audio quality by eliminating background noise. Furthermore, creators will be able to add various sound effects, voice effects and music from Facebook’s sound collection to the audio background to make their creations more fun.
Now, unlike tools, Soundbites is a new audio format that Facebook plans to incorporate into its applications. With this, creators will be able to share creative and short voice clips with their audience. These can include jokes, little anecdotes from life, poems, inspirational quotes, and many more.
Facebook says it is currently working with “A small number of creators” to test and refine the new audio format. After the test, it will run for the next few months, the company will add Soundbites to its apps for the masses to enjoy.
Podcasts on Facebook
In addition to the above products, Facebook is bringing Podcasts to the Android and iOS applications. Currently, Facebook users can browse through millions of podcast pages and groups on the platform. However, they have to exit the Facebook application to listen to any podcast.
So with Podcasts on Facebook, users will be able to listen to podcasts directly in the Facebook app. Users will be able to listen to their favorite podcast episodes while using the application and even when the application is running in the background. Additionally, users will get personalized podcast recommendations based on their interests.
Live audio rooms on Facebook and Messenger
Now, unlike previous audio products, Live Audio Rooms is a direct competitor to Clubhouse. It will bring exactly the same features that were popularized by Clubhouse. We saw reports on this feature earlier this year when the Clubhouse began to gain traction in the market. So, as you can imagine, users will be able to create audio rooms for listeners to join in live audio conversations.
Facebook says it will begin testing live audio rooms soon and expects it to be available on the Facebook app by summer2022. The company will initially offer the feature to 1.8 billion users using Groups and tens of millions of active communities. on Facebook.
