Google has started third preview implementation for developers Android 12 to compatible Pixel devices. With this release, we come to the end of the developer previews for the next version of Android. We could expect the first beta version of Android 12 to arrive next month at Google I / O2022, which begins on May 18.

Android 12 Developer Preview 3: What’s New?

Starting with the third Android 12 developer preview, Google has enabled some of the experimental features by default. In particular, the Redesigned ‘Silky Home’ configuration UI that required an ADB command to force enable is now active. However, Google has yet to enable Monet’s wallpaper-based theme system. Other than that, the build comes with minor visual improvements throughout the interface.

In an attempt to unify the app launch experience, Android 12 DP3 has added a new app launch animation along with a splash screen showing application icon. Developers can also use the splash screen APIs to make splash screen customizations, including the ability to change the background color of the splash window and select a custom icon or animation.

Google is also improving call notifications with this build for developers. There is a new CallStyle template that developers can use to create notifications for incoming, outgoing and filtered calls. These notifications support both default actions and custom actions in Android 12.

Another developer-focused change in the new build is with extensions from camera vendors and support for Bayer’s quad camera sensors. Other changes include improved permissions for alarms, improved web links, haptic feedback, and faster machine learning capabilities.
