Instagram is adding ads to another place: Reels. Facebook today revealed its plans to start testing ads on Instagram Reels. Instagram will initially limit reel ads to India, Brazil, Germany, and Australia., with plans to expand to more countries in the coming months.

What reported for The edge, Instagram Reels ads can be up to 30 seconds long. There will be a ‘sponsored’ tag under the username to indicate that it is sponsored content. Unlike ads in Stories, users can like, comment, save and share reel ads. The report also notes that users can skip the reels, but we’ll have to wait to see if the company has plans to add a timer that can’t be skipped for the first few seconds.
