OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei’s new startup Nothing has finally shared more details about its first product. In recent months, the company has already confirmed that its first product will be a truly wireless pair of headphones, and even gave us a look at a design prototype for them.
Now, the company has finally confirmed that the headphones will be called ‘Ear 1’ and will be released in June, both globally and in India. Even when the exact design and specifications are kept under wraps, Pei has said in a blog post what Ear 1 combines notes of transparency, iconic shape and refined functionality. It is the starting point that will define the art, trust and craftsmanship that our products and services will carry in the coming years ”.
Ear 1 is the first product Nothing will release, and Carl Pei has hinted that Nothing plans to enter other product categories in the future too. “We believe that the headphone market called for differentiation, a space where we can elevate design and deliver value from day one. Additionally, as a high growth area, the headphone market will provide a fertile backdrop as we strengthen our capabilities and prepare to enter new product categories. ” Pei wrote in his post.
As mentioned above, we don’t know the exact specs or price that Nothing is aiming to launch the Ear 1. It could be aimed at the higher end of TWS earbuds, currently dominated by AirPods Pro and Sony WF-1000XM3. But we’ll have to wait and watch for more details as we get closer to launch. Stay tuned as we’ll cover Nothing’s Ear 1 as more details emerge.
