Spotify is adding a ton of new sharing-related features to its app to make it easier (and more interactive) for users to share content from its music and podcast streaming service. The company is bringing three new enhancements to sharing content off the platform, in an effort to make it easier and more interesting for people to share songs and podcasts from Spotify.
Share podcasts with timestamps
Podcasts are usually quite long, and if you are listening to a podcast that you want someone you know to start listening to as well, you can simply share it with that person. However, today, Spotify brings a new feature for sharing podcast episodes: timestamps.
You can now share podcast episodes that start at a particular timestamp. When you share a podcast with a timestamp, the recipient can simply open the link and it will take them directly to that particular spot in the episode, so they can listen to the part that you think they’ll appreciate the most.
When you have the podcast player open, just tap on the share button and enable the switch next to the timestamp as shown below. Then you can share the link via WhatsApp, iMessage, Instagram or wherever you want.
Spotify Canvas improvements
Spotify is also improving the ‘Canvas’ feature in the app. The company is bringing a new menu to share updates to its smartphone apps. With this updated sharing menu, you can see a preview of the canvas you’re sharing on social media. In addition, Spotify will also improve the layout of the available sharing options and dynamically populate the list of applications to share.
Also, if you’re more of a Snapchat user than Instagram, Spotify is bringing Canvas support to Snapchat now, so you’ll be able to share Canvas on Snapchat as well.
New Spotify features are already rolling out globally, but it may take some time for them to be available to everyone. In case you still cannot use these features, please be patient; the update should be coming to you soon.
